These are the prompts for your Exploration Journal. Remember that your entries need to be dated, and EACH entry needs to be at least one page, and written in cursive.1st Journal Entry:
This is the beginning of your journey...where are you going (at the end of your journey, where do you want to be)? What are you taking with you (clothes, food, pets)? How long will your journey last? Who is on this journey with you (friends, family, teacher)? What are you looking for (fun, gold, diamonds, spices, etc.)? How will you be traveling (boat, airplane, etc.)?
2nd Journal Entry:
How long have you been traveling (days, hours, months)? How do you feel about the journey (happy, excited, tired, bored)? How do those your are traveling with feel about it (remember our journal passage from Columbus)? What do you see (ocean, clouds, stars)? How far have you traveled (miles, days, etc.)? How do you know where you are going (compass, stars, map, etc.)
3rd Journal Entry:
Today, you can see what you are looking for (land, a planet, a beach, etc.). How do you feel (excited, disappointed, happy, relieved, etc.)? Was it what you expected it to be? Why or why not?
4th Journal Entry:
Tell us about the place you are exploring...What are the people like (friendly, mean, strange)? What kind of food is grown there? What does the place you are exploring look like? Are there mountains, craters, water, etc.? Does this place have what you were looking for?
5th Journal Entry:
You are now leaving the area you just explored to go back to your home...Do you feel your journey was successful? Why or why not? Will you return? What will you share with others to make them want to visit the area?
